Enjoy your Decorating!! Decorating is really a true expression of you! So, relax and have fun. If you don’t have a lot of confidence in this area, then by all means, get some help with the big stuff. You want to avoid mistakes when it comes to choosing your carpeting and furniture. These are expensive items and you need to enjoy looking at your choices for a long time. As for paint selections for the walls, if you are a creative person and love to change things often, then go for it – try something different – it’s only paint! And time and energy!!! There are tons of wonderful new colors and shades and all kinds of helpful tools on the market. However, if you don’t enjoy moving furniture and all the work that is involved in this type of endeavor, then you want to proceed carefully and perhaps, get some professional advice when you select paint. Or better yet, don’t even go there, let someone else take care of that!

This brings us to the small stuff – the stuff you can have lots of fun with – the accent pieces. The small touches in your home don’t have to cost a fortune and that allows you to get creative and try different things. These aren’t life altering decisions! So lighten up and just have fun. Decorate a basket, create a new centerpiece. Get some new place mats; try a small table runner on that little table in your foyer. When was the last time you put up a new shower curtain and put out new bath towels? Those accent pieces make it feel like a whole new room!

One of the biggest concerns I hear from ladies with regard to decorating is they are afraid they will make a mistake or that something may not totally go together. I think there must be invisible decorating cops out there somewhere on the beat! Remember we’re talking about the small stuff here as in “Don’t sweat the small stuff”. So, cut loose and have some fun and decorate YOUR home YOUR way. If you have been slow to express yourself in this area you will be surprised how much confidence you will achieve just by taking some small steps and adding special touches to every room in your home.
